For automobiles, the braking system is very critical. For the brake system, the brake pad is a very critical component. Brake pads are consumables, and their working status is related to the braking safety of the vehicle. With the brake operation of the car during use, the brake pads will gradually wear out. When it reaches a certain level, it needs to be replaced. Then, how do you see whether the brake pads should be replaced? The specific method is as follows:

Determine whether the brake pads need to be replaced

One, look at the thickness

Generally, the thickness of a new brake pad is about 1.5 cm. If it is worn to one-third, that is, when the thickness is less than 5 mm, it is recommended to replace it in time;

Second, listen to the sound

If there is a metal friction sound when braking, it may be that the brake pads are worn to the lowest thickness, and the limit marks on both sides of the brake pads touch and rub and the brake discs make abnormal noises, and need to be replaced in time;

Three, look at the tips

Some models have brake wear warnings. If the brake pads are worn too much, the sensing wire will touch the brake discs, which will cause the resistance to change, which will generate electric current. If a signal is detected, there will be a brake pad warning light on the dashboard.

Four, by feeling

If you feel that the brake pedal feels light, or if you feel that the brakes are difficult to stop, it indicates that the brake pads are severely worn and the thickness is insufficient, and they need to be replaced in time.

Under normal driving conditions, check the brake pads every 5000 kilometers, not only the remaining thickness, but also the wear state of the brake pads, whether the degree of wear on both sides is the same, whether the return is normal, etc.ifdiscoverAbnormal situations must be dealt with immediately, and the habit of regular inspections and timely maintenance should be developed. Do not wait for the friction material to be partially worn out before replacing it. This poses a great safety hazard.
