Can you believe it? If a car battery spontaneously combusts, the manufacturer will replace it with a brand new one without saying a word. This is not some fantasy, but a commitment written in black and white in the contract by GAC Toyota. On March 29, 2026, their new flagship pure electric sedan Platinum Smart 7 was launched, with the price capped from 147,800 to 199,800 after limited-time subsidies. What’s even more cruel is that pre-sales have only been on for more than 20 days, and orders have already exceeded 10,000 units.

As soon as this car came on board, it was clear that it was going to flip the table. In the past, when buying a pure electric car with a budget of 200,000 yuan, you had to make a choice between battery life, smart driving, and luxury configurations. It seemed that you couldn’t have your cake and eat it too. The BoZhi 7 is no exception. It combines the size of a large car, Huawei's Hongmeng cockpit, lidar smart driving, and dual-chamber air suspension that was previously only seen in luxury cars worth 30,000 to 400,000 yuan, all packed into a price of less than 200,000 yuan.

The entry-level 600 Pro version priced at RMB 147,800 already comes standard with Hongmeng Cockpit 5.0, L2 driving assistance with smart parking, Huawei’s electric drive system, and even solid wood interiors and seat ventilation and heating. Add RMB 14,000 to RMB 161,800, and you can buy a version with lidar. You can use Momenta's R6 large model of high-end smart driving. Functions such as high-speed navigation and urban navigation can be used immediately, and it is free for life.

If you have requirements for battery life, the 700-kilometer version has three configurations. The 700 Max version costs RMB 165,800, and with an additional RMB 5,000 in optional funds, you can drive home with the dual-chamber air suspension, for a total price of RMB 170,800. GAC Toyota says that this is the cheapest dual-chamber air-suspension pure electric family sedan you can buy. For an additional RMB 14,000, for RMB 184,800, the "luxury three-piece package" of lidar, dual-chamber air suspension, and Hongmeng cockpit is all available at once. The top-of-the-line 710 Ultra version costs 199,800, and adds all the configurations that enhance emotional value such as a 27-inch heads-up display and NAPPA leather.
The price is ruthless, and the service policy behind it is even ruthless. GAC Toyota regards the "three responsibilities of manufacturers" as its core selling point this time. The first responsibility is that if the tram spontaneously burns out due to quality issues with the three-electric system and reaches the scrap standard, the manufacturer will directly compensate you for an identical new tram. Secondly, if the battery decay exceeds the standard, they will replace it. The standards are much stricter than those in the industry: the attenuation exceeds 10% within 2 years or 50,000 kilometers, exceeds 20% within 6 years or 100,000 kilometers, and exceeds 25% within 8 years or 150,000 kilometers. As long as the battery exceeds the limit, a new original battery will be replaced for free.
The third liability is that if an accident occurs while using its intelligent parking assistance system, the manufacturer will pay for all property damage caused. In order to deal with the long-standing problem of battery life discounts in winter, they also launched a "winter battery life protection operation." If you think there is something wrong with the battery, just make a call and the manufacturer will issue a test report within 48 hours. If it is confirmed that the battery is a problem, it will be replaced within 72 hours.

Many people worry that the dual-chamber air suspension is easy to break and expensive to repair. The basic warranty provided by GAC Toyota is 5 years or 150,000 kilometers, but an extended warranty is directly included in the listing rights, which increases the warranty period to 10 years or 300,000 kilometers. They said they had done tests, and the air spring durability was tested more than 9 million times, and the suspension equivalent was verified 200,000 times, far exceeding the common industry standards.
At the press conference, Peng Baolin, vice president of GAC Toyota, revealed that during the pre-sale period, the competing product that users compared the most was the Tesla Model, and 80% of people chose the high-end model, and 60% directly ordered the version with dual-chamber air suspension. These numbers show that this car really meets the needs of some people.
Since the launch of Platinum 3X last year, GAC Toyota has been trying this "joint venture 2.0" model. The Chinese team leads the research and development and deeply integrates the advantages of Chinese technology companies such as Huawei and Momenta. For Platinum 7’s batteries, their engineers came to the battery factory two years in advance and put forward more than 300 safety standards. The car’s smart driving system also incorporates Toyota’s own 14 safety standards.

They even changed the way they held a press conference. Instead of listing a bunch of cold parameters, they held a "user Q&A" to directly respond to the specific questions that everyone was most concerned about, such as battery brand, battery life, and suspension durability. In one year, they interviewed more than 2,000 consumers and built a channel for users’ voices to reach engineers directly. From blind ordering to launch, more than 30 changes were made to the Platinum 7 based on user feedback, including wheel style and smart driving logic.
Now, this car has been placed in GAC Toyota 4S stores across the country, claiming to be delivered as soon as it is launched. The starting price of 147,800, coupled with the long list of configurations and full promises, has indeed dropped a depth bomb in the market of pure electric cars under 200,000. When a traditional giant, known for its conservatism and reliability, begins to use more aggressive strategies than new forces to compete for the market, is it reshaping the rules, or is it just starting a more cruel round of involution? This redefinition of value and price may have just begun.
