I spent 15,000 to buy a scooter with configurations that put Honda PCX to shame. After running it for 8,000 kilometers, I figured it out.
Shock absorber oil leakage is noisy.
It wasn't a "pop" sound, it was a particularly quiet silence where the oil seeped out little by little. If you don't look down, you won't know. By the time you find that oil film hanging on the shock absorber, the car has traveled nearly three thousand kilometers.

This is the detail that impressed me most about Shengshi 150X - not how beautiful its TFT full-color instrument is, not how effective the inverted front shock absorber is, but the shock absorber oil leakage, which happened quietly, happened as a matter of course, and happened as if

In mid-2025, when this car was launched, someone in the product circle I was in posted a Tula group discussion. It’s not because it’s so strange, but because it’s a teaching case – you see, domestic manufacturers have finally learned the strategy of “deploying materials for first impression”.
The parameters on paper are really bluffing: water-cooled four-valve engine, peak value 12.5kW; TFT screen projection instrument; TCS traction control; dual-channel ABS; inverted front shock absorber; aluminum alloy rear flat fork - throw this list out and put it in the 15,000 yuan price range. If you ask PCX160 users, they will be silent for a while.
"Mecha style" appearance, LED running water turn signals, keyless start, and mobile phone interconnection navigation screen projection. This is not a motorcycle, this is a carefully designed PPT.
At that time, the search index surged and reservations became popular. Several self-media bloggers I met immediately published reviews. Most of the titles were "Configuration King" and "Domestic Product Ceiling".
It was the summer of 2025, the honeymoon period.

The reputation of a product within three months of its launch actually has little reference value.
This is my experience over the years. For any consumer product, media reviews in the early stages of launch are generally positive. The reason is simple: the media received a test drive that has been carefully debugged by the manufacturer. The riding mileage does not exceed 500 kilometers and the duration does not exceed two days, mainly on urban roads. What the manufacturer gives to the media is always the best one.
The critical time window is three to six months. The feedback will only be real when the first batch of users have traveled 1,000 to 3,000 kilometers, the honeymoon period is over, and real usage scenarios begin to appear.
The turning point for Shengshi 150X will occur in the fourth quarter of 2025.
About four months after it was launched, the style of posts about this car on major forums began to change. It changed from "This configuration is too powerful" to "Has anyone leaked oil from the shock absorber?", then "Please report if the shock absorber has leaked oil", and then to a whole post full of pictures, all of which are photos of oil stains. At the same time, the search volume for the keywords "instrument black screen", "keyless failure" and "transmission shaking" began to rise, and eventually exceeded "Shengshi 150X review".
I have reviewed this logical chain specifically.

Why does shock absorber oil leakage have such a big impact? It’s not just a functional issue, it’s also a symbolic one. The inverted front shock absorber is the core "leapfrog hardware" of the Shengshi 150X. It was the key item circled on the PPT of the press conference, and it is the most proud talking point for users who buy this car. It turned out that this thing was the first to have problems, and it was not an isolated case. It happened in batches, with a lot of picture evidence, and could not be explained as "improper use by users."
What is this called at the product level? It’s called “the core selling point is the core flaw”. More lethal than anything else.
The black screen on the instrument is the second layer of the problem. The TFT full-color instrument is the carrier of the sense of technology and the physical basis for functions such as "mobile phone interconnection" and "navigation screen projection". After a few months of use, the instrument will occasionally experience a black screen, blurred screen, or restart. Some users report that the probability is higher during rainy seasons or after car washes. For a product that emphasizes "intelligence", the intelligent system itself is unreliable. The psychological impact of this gap is much greater than the same problem in a car that has never emphasized intelligence.
Abnormal transmission noise and idle vibration are the third level. This kind of problem is relatively hidden, not all users have it, but some people have it after a few hundred kilometers, then repair it, replace the clutch, then it goes out again, and then replace it.
The stacking of these three layers of problems is not a random bad luck, but an overall and systematic signal.
Anyone who makes products knows that quality control problems do not just fall out of thin air. Often the source can be traced.

Analysis in the industry generally points to two directions: First, the product verification cycle has been compressed, and in order to seize the market window and go to market early, the durability test and extreme working condition test have not been completed; second, the supply chain management has lost control during the production capacity ramp-up stage, and the batch quality of external suppliers has not been effectively controlled. The sealing process of shock-absorbing devices and the waterproof level of electronic control components have declined during mass production.
These two things are common among rapidly expanding domestic brands. The logic is not difficult to understand - the market window is very narrow, competitors will copy it, and if you enter the market six months late, you may miss it, so the decision-makers will tend to "get in first and make changes as you go."
The problem is that motorcycles are not software and cannot be patched OTA to repair shock absorber oil leaks.
Shengshi officials later issued "optimization and upgrade" notices, replacing shock absorbers and transmission components for free in specific batches, and upgrading ECU programs. There is a notice, but the word "recall" never appears, and "free upgrade service" is used. This approach itself triggered a new round of discussion: sincere, but not direct enough.
By the beginning of 2026, the first batch of cars will be nearly a year old, and the problems are no longer limited to quality complaints, but have begun to be transmitted to the second-hand market.
When the second-hand car dealer took delivery of this car, the first thing he asked was whether the shock absorber had leaked oil, whether the gauges were normal, and whether there were any abnormal noises. The price reduction was severe, and the residual value performance of the early batches was not at the same level as the PCX, NMAX, and Haojue UHR150 of the same period.

The value retention rate is the most honest market feedback and is more reliable than any evaluation. If a car makes the person who collects the car immediately think of a potential fault, then the "high-end" image that the brand wants to establish has been ruthlessly marked with another price in the second-hand market.
Looking back now, the story of Shengshi 150X has actually happened in the history of many products, not only in the motorcycle industry. The first impression built with high configurations will be much more serious than a product with high expectations once it encounters a quality control failure.
The higher the expectations, the deeper the disappointment. This is not a profound truth, but every round there are always brands stepping into it again.
That TFT instrument now seems more like a metaphor. The screen is bright enough, clear enough, and can display all the data you want to see, and then one day the screen inexplicably goes black, then restarts, and then continues to stay on, as if nothing happened.
Tell me in the comment section, is there anyone around you who has bought this bike? How does it feel to ride it now?
