Pure electric car sales in March: Tesla Model Y returns to No. 1 Xiaomi SU7 No. 5

[CNMO Technology News]According to the latest data from the China Passenger Car Association, the retail sales of new energy passenger cars reached 992,000 in March, an increase of 38.0% year-on-year and a month-on-month increase of as high as 45.2%. The market penetration rate exceeded 50% for the first time, reaching 54.1%. Among them, pure electric models were particularly favored by consumers. In March, the retail sales of pure electric vehicles reached 646,000 units, an increase of 50.6% and 51.2% year-on-year and month-on-month respectively. A total of 16 models sold exceeded 10,000 units.

First of all, Tesla Model Y achieved an amazing growth of five times month-on-month with the advantage of the new model being delivered, with sales reaching 48,200 units, ranking first in sales. In contrast, although Model 3 has entered the top ten of the overall list for two consecutive months, its sales have not significantly increased after the introduction of FSD function, resulting in the overall performance in the first quarter being worse than expected.

At the same time, after Hongguang MINIEV launched the four-door version in February, sales in March were close to 40,000 units, a significant increase from the 22,000 units last month. The practicality of the four-door version model and the replacement subsidy policy make this micro electric vehicle more affordable and attract more consumers. BYD Haiou also provides better space and endurance under similar prices due to the support of national subsidy policies. In March, it once again became the leader in the small car market with a record of 34,000 vehicles. However, Geely Star also performed well, selling 32,500 vehicles in March.

Xiaomi's first SU7 sold 29,200 units in March, a month-on-month increase of 22.9%. Relying on the strong technological background of Xiaomi Group, SU7 has shown excellent performance in intelligent driving and car-machine interconnection. Coupled with the brand appeal and Lei Jun’s personal charm, it continues to attract the attention and support of a large number of fans.

Although BYD Yuan PLUS sales in March were 19,700 units, an increase of 89.4% month-on-month, it fell by 8.1% year-on-year. Another pure electric SUV suitable for young people, Yuan UP, sold 16,300 units, a month-on-month increase of 65.0%. Xiaopeng MONA M03 surpassed Qin PLUS EV with sales of 16,600 units, becoming a new popular choice in the price range of 110,000 to 160,000 yuan. Qin PLUS EV ranked 13,400 units
