The spark plug is a key component in the ignition system, used to introduce high-voltage current to generate electric sparks to ignite the mixed gas. Common spark plugs include iridium platinum spark plugs and double iridium spark plugs, and there are certain differences between them.
1. Material differences:
Iridium platinum spark plugs use iridium as the center electrode material to improve ignition sensitivity. Double iridium spark plugs use iridium to make the center electrode and side electrodes. Its hardness, corrosion resistance and high melting point enable its service life to reach 100,000 kilometers and meet the needs of high-power engines.
2. Performance difference:
Iridium platinum spark plugs use platinum as the side electrode material, providing a higher performance level than ordinary spark plugs at a relatively affordable price. The dual iridium spark plugs are slightly better than the iridium platinum spark plugs in terms of power performance, with faster acceleration and more fuel economy.
3. Selection suggestions:
For cars that are not in ideal condition or have been used for a certain period of time, it is recommended to choose iridium platinum spark plugs to meet their ignition performance requirements. If the vehicle is in good condition and has strong economic strength, it is recommended to choose dual iridium spark plugs to obtain stronger power performance and fuel saving effects. Of course, the choice depends entirely on the car owner’s personal wishes.
4. Regular replacement:
No matter which spark plug you choose, regular replacement is necessary. Theoretically, it is recommended to replace iridium-platinum spark plugs every 30,000 to 40,000 kilometers, and replace dual iridium spark plugs every 60,000 kilometers to ensure the normal operation of the ignition system. However, the specific replacement cycle also needs to be based on the actual use of the vehicle a
