4g18 chain timing installation diagram

There are 3 different color links on the 4g18 chain, 2 of which are silver-gray plated with chrome, and one is brown-yellow with copper plated. The camshaft, crankshaft and cylinder block all have marking points. The marking points of the two camshafts generally face upwards, while the crankshaft marking points face downwards. When installing, align the colored tooth buckles with the two camshaft timing marks and the gear teeth of the crankshaft timing mark respectively.

Align the timing mark on the balance shaft sprocket on the intake side with the copper-plated link, and then turn the timing chain clockwise to align the chrome-plated link with the timing mark on the balance shaft drive sprocket on the crankshaft. The chrome-plated chain link is at about 6 o'clock. Place a timing chain on the water pump drive sprocket and adjust the last chrome-plated chain link so that the timing mark on the exhaust side balance shaft drive sprocket is aligned with it. After the chain is aligned, adjust the tensioner to adjust the tightness of the chain to the best condition.

The key to installing the chain is the timing. If the timing is right or wrong, the valve will be broken when the vehicle is started. Therefore, the replacement of the timing chain should be performed in a formal professional repair shop or 4S shop, which is more secure.
