The odometer sensor is used to detect the speed of the electronically controlled car tires, and transmit the detected signals to the ECU, so as to control the shifting and cruise speed of the automatic transmission. The principle is to sense the number of turns of the tire through the sensor on the differential or the half shaft, because the angular velocity of the half shaft and the wheel are equal, the radius of the tire is known, and the mileage can be calculated directly through the history parameters.

Odometer sensors can be divided into three types: magnetoelectric type, Hall type and photoelectric type. The common one is Hall type. Generally, there are three wires: power line VCC, signal line Vout and ground line GND. The colors are respectively. It is red, yellow/orange and black. Connect the red power line to the power supply, the yellow signal line to the instrument, and the black ground line to ground, and then connect them according to the colors.

Odometer sensor detection method

Method 1: Remove the connecting plug of the vehicle speed sensor and check the resistance value of the two leads of the sensor with the resistance file of a multimeter.

Method 2: Rotate the output shaft of the transmission, and use a car oscilloscope to detect the signal voltage waveform between the two leads of the vehicle speed sensor, which is an alternating current waveform, and the amplitude and frequency of the waveform increase with the speed of the output shaft, which indicates that the sensor has good performance .
