How to maintain the brake pads and extend their using life-cycle?

For the maintenance of the brake pads, the most direct and helpful mean is timely replacement and learn to drive using the engine brake. However, due to each driver uses the pedal in different frequency and intensity, it is hard to define how long it will take to be changed. Generally, when the using mileage is about 25,000 – 30,000 km, it is time to change it. In case of mixed driving (half on the road and half on the urban area), the brake pads in the front wheel are supposed to insist above 60,000 – 70,000 km, however the brakes of rear wheels are supposed to be used more than 100,000 km. In some cases, when the driver go up and down hills braking all time he speed up the wear, is very important to learn how to use the engine brake.

Finally, there are some tips about how to maintain the brake pads. First of all, we can't wait to change it until the friction material is completely worn, because we can damage the rotors. Secondly, after change the pads is recommented pedaling the brakes, in order to eliminate the gap between brake pads and discs, then we will brake softly, without pedaling so strong to bed the pads to the rotor, as general, 200km at least, then new brake pads will reach the best braking effect with less wear.
