Energy saving, emission reduction and safety improvement arecarTwo important development directions for industry. In recent years, Northeastern University has made breakthroughs in theory and technology. Independently developed a new high-toughness aluminum-silicon coating process for automotive steel to increase its toughness by 20%-30%. At the same time, it has also contributed to the development of automobile lightweight.New technology makes automotive steel tough and light, energy-saving and safe!
Traditional aluminum-silicon coated automobile steel plates have excellent performance in abrasive protection, dimensional accuracy of parts, corrosion resistance, etc., but their defects are also obvious: insufficient toughness. "Insufficient toughness will directly lead to the failure and fracture of automobile crash safety components. Professor Yi Hongliang, State Key Laboratory of Rolling Technology and Continuous Rolling Automation of Northeastern University, said that if this bottleneck is broken, the door anti-collision beams can be further strengthened.bumper, B-pillar and other safety structural parts.
Professor Yi Hongliang’s research team found that during the austenite heating process, the al-si coated steel sheet produces a large amount of carbon enrichment near the interface between the 22mnb5 matrix and the diffusion layer, and high-carbon martensite is formed in the subsequent cooling process. It is the extremely low toughness of the high-carbon martensite layer that significantly reduces the toughness of the aluminum-silicon coating product.
