Misunderstanding 1: Add as much lubricant as you can
The amount of lubricating oil should be controlled between the upper and lower scale lines of the oil dipstick. Because there is too much lubricating oil, it will penetrate into the combustion chamber from the gap between the cylinder and the piston to form carbon deposits. These carbon deposits will increase the engine compression ratio and increase the tendency of knocking; the red-hot carbon deposits in the cylinder can easily cause premature combustion, such as falling into the cylinder, it will aggravate the wear of the cylinder and piston, and will also accelerate the pollution of lubricating oil. Secondly, too much lubricating oil increases the stirring resistance of the crankshaft connecting rod, which increases the fuel consumption.
Myth 2: When the lubricating oil turns black, it is time to change the oil
This understanding is not comprehensive. For the lubricating oil without adding a static dispersant, the blackening of the color is indeed a sign that the oil has been seriously deteriorated, but the lubricating oil used in modern automobiles is generally added with a static dispersant. This scavenger washes off the film and black carbon deposits adhering to the piston, and disperses it in the oil to reduce the formation of high-temperature deposits in the engine, so the color of the lubricating oil tends to turn black after a period of use. The oil has not completely deteriorated.
Misunderstanding 3: Lubricants are often added without changing
It is correct to check the lubricating oil frequently, but only replenishing and not replacing can only make up for the lack of oil quantity, but cannot fully compensate for the loss of lubricating oil performance. During the use of lubricating oil, the quality will gradually decline due to pollution, oxidation, etc., and there will be some consumption at the same time, reducing the quantity.
Misunderstanding 4: Additives are useful
A truly high-quality lubricant is a finished product with a variety of engine protection functions. The formula already contains a variety of additives, including anti-wear agents, and the most important aspect of the lubricant is the balance of the formula to ensure the full play of various properties.Adding other additives by yourself not only cannot bring additional protection to the vehicle, but it is easy to react with the chemical substances in the oil, resulting in a decrease in the comprehensive performance of the oil.
