The new Jeep Cherokee takes a new design and pays homage to the original XJ. This crossover is simple in shape and has a blocky and a square silhouette. The U-shaped daytime running lights located around the LED headlights remind you of the square shape of XJ. The interior of the car maintains a simple design style, which is similar to the Wagoneer S. The dashboard has the same overall shape with steering squirrels, similarly styled vents and a luxury-oriented cab experience.
A 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment display are standard on the SUV. It runs Uconnect 5 with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The new rotary gear selector frees up space in the center console, one of many areas where Jeep is trying to maximize storage space. At the same time, the entire system is equipped with rain sensing wipers, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear parking assistance and active driving assistance systems. Depending on the version, Jeep will offer some optional upgrades including a 360-degree camera, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, front tire-to-curb view, dual pane sunroof and foot-mounted power tailgate.
The new Jeep Cherokee is equipped with Stellantis' new 350-volt hybrid system, designed specifically for this crossover. It is also the only powertrain available at launch, but more options are expected soon. It pairs a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with a dual-motor electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. It has no plugs and only has a 1.08 kWh micro battery powered by the engine and regenerative brakes. The system produces 210 horsepower and 230 pound-feet of torque.
