The brake pads just changed can’t stop, but the brakes become soft. Recovery method

Everyone knows that if the brake pads are worn to a certain degree, they need to be replaced in time, otherwise it will affect the braking effect of the car and pose a safety hazard. But many car owners have encountered the situation that the newly replaced brake pads cannot stop the car. What is going on?

The surface of the newly-changed brake pad is relatively flat, and the contact surface with the brake disc is small, and the braking force will be relatively low, which will cause the brake to fail. The replacement of new brake pads requires a period of running-in, generally about 200 kilometers. Only after the running-in period can the best braking effect be achieved.

Brake softening may be caused by severe wear of the brake pads and reduced friction, or an internal leakage between the brake master cylinder and the sub-cylinder. There are different recovery methods for different problems:

1. The brake pads are severely worn

Some cars have a brake pad wear alarm function. Once the brake pad wear is close to the critical value, an alarm light will be displayed on the dashboard. Even without this function, there will be protrusions on both sides of the brake pads. This protrusion is the wear threshold. When the brake pads are worn to the bulge, they will come into contact with the brake disc and make abnormal noises. At this time, the brake pads should be checked and replaced in time.

2. There is a leak between the brake master cylinder and the sub-cylinder

The inside of the brake master cylinder is squeezed by the brake pedalBrake fluid, The brake fluid transfers the squeezing force to the sub-cylinder, pushing the brake pads to rub against the brake disc to generate braking force. If there is leakage inside the master cylinder and the sub-cylinder and the pressure is leaked inside, it will cause the brake to feel soft. Remove the internal air and check and replace the oil pipes in time.
