tireIt is a ring-shaped elastic rubber product that is assembled on various vehicles or machinery and is usually installed on a metal rim to support the car body, cushion the external impact, achieve contact with the road surface and ensure the driving performance of the vehicle.Recently, MichelintireWe launched a tire knowledge class to let everyone know about tires correctly.

Q: What are the benefits of understanding tires correctly?

After understanding the tires correctly, the tire conditions can be determined in different environments, and timely replacement and adjustment can be made to ensure safety and convenience during normal driving.

Types of tires

In daily tires, there are two types of tires. The first is bias tires, also known as ordinary tires. Refers to a pneumatic tire in which the cords of the carcass, ply and buffer layer intersect adjacent layers and are arranged at an angle of less than 90°C with the center line of the tread. This kind of tire has good longitudinal rigidity and is suitable for driving at medium speed on ordinary roads.

The second type of commonly used tires is radial tires, which are commonly known as "steel tires". The characteristic of radial tires is that the cords are not arranged to cross each other, but are nearly parallel to the cross section of the tire, and are arranged like the earth’s meridian. The cord angle is small, generally 0°. There is no intersecting point between the carcass lines. During driving, the stress around the crown increases, which will cause circumferential expansion, and the carcass will become radial cracks. Therefore, the buffer layer of the radial tire adopts the dealing cord layer arranged close to the circumferential direction, which intersects the carcass cord at an angle of 90°, generally 70° to 78°, forming a rigid endless belt that can hardly be stretched. Fix the entire tire to limit the circumferential deformation of the tire. This buffer layer bears 60% to 70% of the internal stress of the entire tire. Become the main force component of radial tires. Therefore, it is called the belt of a radial tire. The main stress components of bias tires are not on the buffer layer, and 80% to 90% of the internal stress is borne by the ply of the carcass. It can be seen that the belt layer design of radial tires is very important and must have good rigidity. It can use multi-layered, large-angle, high-strength and difficult-to-stretch fiber materials, such as steel wire or glass fiber.

What are the components of a tire

1. Tire: The tire is composed of tread, sidewall, buffer layer, ply and bead.Used to bearCarVarious forces when driving on the road.

2. Sidewall: The sidewall is the rubber layer of the outer layer of the tire side ply, which is used to protect the carcass.

3. Cord layer: The cord layer is a cloth layer composed of side-by-side rubber cords in the carcass. It is the force frame layer of the tire to ensure that the tire has the necessary strength and dimensional stability. The buffer layer is a rubber fabric cord or rubber layer between the bias tire mesa and the carcass, which is used to buffer external impact, protect the carcass, and improve the adhesion between the mesa and the carcass.

4. Bead: The bead is the part of the tire installed on the rim, which is composed of a bead core and chafer, and its role in fixing the tire. Tire specifications are expressed in dimensions such as outer tire outer diameter D, bead inner diameter or rim diameter d, cross-sectional width B, and aspect ratio, and the unit is inches.

5. Automobile tires: Automobile tires are generally composite products of rubber, fiber materials and metal materials. The manufacturing process is a comprehensive process of mechanical processing and scientific reaction. The rubber is mixed with the compounding agent and then extruded to form the tread; the cord is calendered, cut, and laminated to form a cord tube or cord; the steel wire is stranded and overlaid to form a bead; then all semi-finished products are placed on the forming machine Combined into a blank tire, inVulcanizerIn the metal model, the tire is made into a finished product after vulcanization.

What does the data on the tire mean?

Tire specification: The specification is the symbol data of the geometric parameters and physical performance of the tire. Tire specifications are often represented by a set of numbers. The first number represents the width of the tire section, and the latter number represents the diameter of the rim, all in inches.
