Many car owners have this question. It is clear that their vehicle maintenance manual says "The gearbox is maintenance-free for life", which means that the transmission oil does not need to be changed at all. Which one is reliable if the gearbox oil is not changed? Let's take a look below.

The gearbox oil does not need to be changed at all? Is impossible. The reason why the manufacturer can mark "the gearbox is maintenance-free for life" in the maintenance manual is true, but it is still relatively difficult to achieve. The prerequisite is that the gearbox must reach the most ideal working condition. The ideal state includes no leakage points in the gearbox, and the working temperature and working strength of the gearbox oil are within the ideal range. However, it is difficult to guarantee in actual use. If the gearbox oil works at a higher temperature, its service life will be shorter.

So don't worry about whether the gearbox oil can be changed or not. In order to keep the vehicle in good working condition, it is best to check and maintain it regularly. Transmission oil can be divided into automatic transmission oil and manual transmission oil. The replacement cycle of manual transmission oil can be slightly longer than that of automatic transmission oil, and it can be changed once every 60,000 to 80,000 kilometers.

If the gearbox oil has deteriorated, turned black, sticky, or smelled, it needs to be replaced immediately. Of course, it is difficult for many car owners to notice the above situation. If the gearbox frequently has shift shocks, slippage, acceleration weakness, abnormal noise, etc. after the vehicle has been driving for a long period of time, it is recommended to replace the transmission oil.
