The 4g16 engine uses a timing chain drive, and there are two arrows on the chain shell, respectively at the crankshaft sprocket wheel and the camshaft sprocket wheel. There will be small dot marks on the edges of the two chain wheels. There is one on the crankshaft sprocket wheel and two on the camshaft sprocket wheel, align the arrows.
There are 3 different color links on the timing chain, 2 of which are silver-gray plated with chrome, and one is brown-yellow with copper plated. Align the timing mark on the balance shaft sprocket on the intake side with the copper-plated link, and turn the timing chain clockwise to align the chrome-plated link with the timing mark on the balance shaft drive sprocket on the crankshaft. After alignment, chrome-plated The chain link is at about 6 o'clock. Place a timing chain on the water pump drive sprocket and adjust the last chrome-plated chain link so that the timing mark on the exhaust side balance shaft drive sprocket is aligned with it.
The timing chain transmission has high resistance, high noise, and high cost, but it is not easy to be damaged, has a longer life, less post-maintenance, and is more reliable and more durable. From a long-term development perspective, the advantage of chains is higher than that of belts, and more cars use timing chains.
