There are three different colored tooth buckles on the b12 timing chain. There are marking points on the camshaft, crankshaft and cylinder block. Just align the two camshaft timing marks and the gear teeth of the crankshaft timing marks respectively.

When installing, shift the two intake camshaft sprockets to the left and right by about 10°, align the mark on the camshaft with the cylinder mark, and then align the color buckle on the chain with the camshaft mark teeth; crankshaft The same is true. After the mark on the crankshaft is aligned downward with the cylinder mark, the color teeth can be buckled on the crankshaft mark teeth. After the chain is aligned, adjust the tensioner to adjust the tightness of the chain to the best condition.

The main function of the timing chain is to drive the engine's valve mechanism so that the engine's intake and exhaust valves can be opened or closed at appropriate times to ensure that the engine cylinders can inhale and exhaust normally. The key point of the replacement is the timing. If the timing is right or wrong, the valve will be broken when the vehicle is started. Therefore, the replacement of the timing chain should be performed in a formal professional repair shop or 4S shop, which is more secure.
